Delegates at this Westminster Briefing will have the opportunity to consider the issue of behaviour in schools and in particular examine the recommendations made in Sir Alan Steer’s report.
Participants will engage with the panel looking at the key issues and examining the likely implications for teachers, pupils, parents and local authorities.
Further issues for discussion include:
- Understanding the full range of powers available to teachers and schools
- The use of permanent and fixed term exclusions; guidance from Local Authorities on their use
- Engaging parents in the process and using parenting orders/contracts; fines
- The implications of the Ofsted inspection grade for behaviour in school report cards
- Specialist training; support for teachers to counter challenging behaviour
- The role played by Children’s Trusts; independent appeals panels
- Working in partnership with other agencies, including the police in establishing safer schools partnerships
